Posting to the NEYM PSC website

Well, I have been busy, busy, busy.... I set up most of our pages in the PSCsection so they are journal pages. I did this because journal pages can beposted via email if you know the right email address to send it to! That wayyou don't have to send it to me or Ian to post to these pages. You just sendan email to the address that matches the page you want it to show up on,the subject line of the email becomes the title of the post, the body ofyour email becomes the body of the post.

In the beginning, I will have them show up as drafts so I can double-checkthat all is going as planned but once we get used to it, I'll change it sowhen you send an email, it will just publish.

The email addresses are:

post.neympsc.pschome@squarespace.com                          for our main page - post.neympsc.pscminutes@squarespace.com                      for committee minutes - post.neympsc.NRCAT@squarespace.com                              for Torture posts - post.neympsc.israelpalestine@squarespace.com                 for any israeli/palestine information - post.neympsc.immigration@squarespace.com                      for anything on immigration issues - post.neympsc.privatePSC@squarespace.com                       this is our private conversation page. So if we email back and forth to each other, and include this email address as part of the committee, our emails will show up on our protected page... will be nice to have them all in one place! (actually I added the email address to this email so we begin.....

So please feel free to add your voice to these pages... Be sure to put yourname at the end of your emails so we know who they are from!Any questions, let me know.Aggie

The need to focus on the causes of violence

Some reflections on where my passion lies: For many years my thoughts, prayers and investment of time have centered around the causes of violence, the seeds of war. I heard a comment some years ago at an FGC gathering to the effect that we spend a disproportionate amount of time running around trying to catch bullets instead of dealing with the source of those bullets and how we might stop the firing as well as caring for the wounded. As I’ve wrestled with that comment for some years I have found help from some who are referred to as feminist theologians and one author (who doesn’t see herself in this group), Riane Eisler, most notably in her book “The Chalice and the Blade.

Committee Charge Submissions

#1 -The NEYM Peace and Social Concerns Committee will further the Friends’ historic mission to help prevent --- and counter the effects of -- wars and social injustice, by focusing and helping to activate the relevant leadings of its committee members, of supplicants to the committee, and of the region’s Monthly and Quarterly meetings, as the Committee collectively finds itself led.

#2 -PSC committee should develop and maintain a personal relationship with Monthly Meeting's PSC

Other Feedback

During our long drive home, I asked the people in the car what they would hope for from NEYM Peace and Social Concerns and these were their responses...

"To hold our feet to the fire. When we get caught up spending all our time talking about budget and other things, to remind us there are other things that need our attention."
