Sale on hard cover copies of Fit for Freedom, Not for Friendship—for a short time (just a few days) sold for same price as a paperback--$28.00. In the review in Friends Journal the work by Donna McDaniel and Vanessa Julye was described as “an indispensable resource for years to come for anyone who wants to gain an honest and comprehensive understanding of Friends' relationship to the African American community and especially its quest for justice.” Here’s an opportunity to order a copy for your Meeting library. Online: www.quakerbooks.org. Ordering? Be sure to find the box for media mail.
Join a group of Quakers attending the 2012 White Privilege Conference in Albuquerque, NM, the last weekend of March. With a large enough group, the registration fee is less than half of the regular rate (for that rate you must register on the FGC website). See http://www.fgcquaker.org/cmr/white-privilege-conference-2012. There’s also a special program for young people. Read about that and more about the conference at www.whiteprivilegeconference.com/wpc. Vanessa Julye is coordinating the FGC group’s participation. You can contact her at FGC--215-561-1700 X3006, vanessaj@fgcquaker.org.

Two events in Boston: 1) Talk on the hundreds of African American “notables” buried in Forest Hills Cemetery (a presence unknown to many): Nov. 19, 2:30 p.m. Dudley Square branch, Boston Public Library, free. 2) A Gospel choir (with a Quaker member or two), performing a Christmas program at the Museum of Fine Arts on Dec. 16th. An inspiring holiday event. Ticket info at MFA’s website.
